hello friends! it’s been awhile… just popping in to show you a quilt top made from Briar Rose by Heather Ross. i ordered a fat quarter bundle cause I always love Heather’s fabric. I’ve decided with this one though, that I like some of the individual fabrics a LOT, but maybe not the collection all together in one quilt? not sure, still deciding if i like this quilt or not. maybe i just chose the wrong pattern. but it is growing on me just a bit, so we’ll see!
anyways, this quilt only used half my bundle so i’ll be playing with it some more, you can be sure!
about my quilt along, i’m sorry to just abruptly stop. i realized that i was getting bogged down with it, and just dreading the thought of even looking at the computer and blogging something. (just being honest here!) so i decided that i’m going to take a little break (from the quilt along, not the blog) and wait for inspiration to strike.
I like it ๐
Love it!!! beautiful picture also ๐
I admire your honesty.
I like it, too!
I like it a lot.
I really like it – it is my favorite quilt I've seen with Briar Rose! I'm having a hard time picking a pattern for that collection.
I am not a fan of the briar rose collection as a whole–just too much going on in each fabric… The more I see it the more busy it feels to me… but I'd say your quilt is one of the best use I've seen with this fabric– the use of the white kind of mutes the fabrics a bit…
Your quilt top is beautiful!! I know what you are saying. I love the line but am thinking I will leave the purples out and addin some polka dots and blenders. I am still staring at my stack and need to finish my current quilt before I cut into my Briar Rose ๐
I like the collection, but it's a lot going on all together. Maybe better to pick a few and mix with some solids? I haven't figured out what to make with mine either.
Your quilt top looks beautiful. I have not hopped on the Briar Rose bandwagon for some reason. I just can't work up the excitement. Is this one of those collections you either LOOOOOVE or feel kinda "meh" about? I don't know, but I'm sure your quilt will be wonderful.
I agree that as soon as something is "required" it becomes less fun! Take your time! I've been a long time lurker on your blog but I just wanted to say your blog is my absolute favorite. Thanks for all the inspiration and insights into quilting.
ooh, I do like your quilt. Looks so pretty and fresh.
Very pretty ๐
I like how you added the teal and green solids. That gives it a more full color scheme. But, I agree – I like some of these prints quite a lot as stand alones!
Thanks for popping in to say hello. I've missed your updates and whether or not you continue with the quilt along or not, it's nice to see what you have been up to.

I love it!
this is lovely. i agree with your ambivalence on the collection as a whole…I've been struggling to put this into a quilt, but i quite like your version. all the neutrals break up the busy-ness very well.
I really like this quilt – it reminds me of spring. Maybe if you used a grass-green for the binding it would pull all the greens together and you might like it better?
You are one smart lady – you're wise to recognize that the Quilt Along was bogging you down, AND that you had a choice as to what to do about it! I think the danger of trying to please a blogging audience is that it can cramp your style. Quilts need to be created out of inspiration, not obligation, and that doesn't always cooperate with a scheduled post or Quilt Along! ๐
PS – I'm wondering if you have any scraps you'd be willing to part with – I'll send you an e-mail.
Looking forward to seeing what lovely quilts this new found freedom will result in!
Cute quilt top!
This is YOUR blog. Do what works for you! but please keep blogging:) I think you can see from the comments we all enjoy what you have to share.
and the quilt is beautiful…..
As always your honesty makes you one of my favourite bloggers ! Short and sweet , to the point – your style is admirably cute !
The quilt looks interesting.
Hope inspiration strikes soon. ๐ Heads up.
i was thinking the same thing about this fabric line – such great prints, but together it's a little too much. that said, your quilt top is adorable – i think you've handled it well!
I really like what you did to "tame" the fabric…
Love your quilt. It has also possibly given me a little inspiration, so thanks xo
Funny because I feel the same way about this collection. I love the honeycombs in all colorways, the strawberries with the white background and the frogs. Not so much the rest. But your quilt is beautiful.
I love the design you picked! I have been trying to decide what to do with mine and yours is my favorite so far! Looooooove!
If u decide u don't want it, pass it on to me! **grins**
