This one was made for someone specific. It’s a long belated thank you gift for my sister-in-law. In my recent urge to finish up all those lingering projects, I finally got it completed! It feels so good!
A bit about this quilt: It wasn’t too hard to choose colors and style, because her house has a cohesive country primitive style throughout. When I started out, I wasn’t sure I’d have fabrics to make a quilt of this style. Amazingly, I didn’t have to go out and buy a single piece. Denyse Schmidt fabrics definitely helped with this. They can look so vintage or so modern, depending on how you work with them.
I hand quilted this one, which definitely made it take longer! It was just one of those that refused to be machine quilted, you know?!
I sort of forget, but I think I debated quite a while about using the cream sashing or just making more blocks and putting them all together without sashing.
I suppose some of you would say it’s pretty obviously my personal taste that influenced the final decision of this warm creamy sashing. The binding, and vintagey looking script print, is my favorite final touch since it’s a bit unexpected with the other fabrics.
I’m really happy with how this quilt ended up, and can’t wait to give it to her. I’m sure she’s forgotten that I said I’d make her a quilt as a thank you!
It's perfect! Your quilts always have such a warm, cozy look to them that I appreciate so much.:)
Its gorgeous!! I still haven't tackled hand quilting but I love the look of it!!! Do you have a quilt stand or use a hoop or what?
Another beautiful quilt! I'm sure it will be a cherished gift. 🙂
Hi! This is so beautiful quilt! Looks very country and cosy! I think the cream sashing and the script print binding are perfect and gives the friendly and cosy touch. Beautiful colours! x Teje
I love this quilt so very much, it's perfect in every way. Love the colors you chose, and the log cabins of course. I'm sure your SIL will love it.
Gorgeous- lucky SIL.
Oh, another lovely quilt!
Gorgeous! Great work. Best, Kate
Lovely! I've been wanting to see this finished up since your teaser photo awhile ago 🙂 you're inspiring me to tackle my massive amount of WIPs
What a beautiful and comfy looking quilt! it has love and comfort written all over it!!!
Gorgeous colours and amazing that modern fabric lines were used to get the vintage feel to it! Your SIL will love it!
Lovely quilt! I am so in love with the Log Cabin blocks (never get tired of any of their variations or "modern" looks) so this quilt is right up my alley.
Your quilts are so unique and beautiful, such a pleasure to look at!
Beautiful quilt! Your sister-in-law will be very happy!
What a beautiful quilt! I love the sashing and pops of colour! I've been wondering lately if Denyse Schmidt fabric is the answer to everything, I think it might be!
I've just basted a wonky log cabin with cream sashing and I don't know how to quilt it. I thought, 'I will see what Jolene has done with her log cabin quilts!' Lo and behold, you have a new one for me to take inspiration from without having to even look through your greatest hits catalogue. Your latest quilt is lovely! I wish mine looked as good as yours but you are the quilt grandmaster, I am but an eager learner. Thank you for taking the time to share your work, it is always so inspiring! (So many exclamation marks but all genuine marks of enthusiasm, if you know what I mean.)
Gorgeous I love it. One day I will give some hand quilting a go. I guess I am still a newbie at this 🙂
It's wonderful! I'm so in awe of all the gorgeous quilts you make and love seeing them. This is definitely one of my favorites! 🙂
I am always so excited to see what you have posted. I love your quilts – the colours, the design, everything. Another amazing quilt. Thank you for sharing.
I do like your take on "country" – definitely modern country to my eye and fabulous!
Lovely quilt. The colors are fantastic. It definitely crosses from modern to primitive in a really great way.
Such a gorgeous quilt and love your fabric combo!
This quilt is wonderful! The texture, the colours, are so inspiring. I've been hand quilting some of my quilts lately and it gives such a perfect look in the right quilt. This one is definitely a "hand quilter".
absolutely beautiful! everything about it. 🙂
I love it, it reminds me of my quilts !~! Beautiful.
I agree with everyone else. This is so pretty. I love the cream and touches of saffron. It gives such a warm & cozy feeling! One day I plan to make a log cabin quilt for my bed. Hopefully mine will come out half as nice as yours!
