How’s this for a bright quilt?! I made this one with Quilt As You Go method. It’s a great way to use up small pieces of batting, as these blocks were cut to 6 1/2″. Also a relaxing way to use up scraps. You hardly need to press anything, I just give a quick once over to each block when they’re done.
To finish the quilt, I just quilted in the ditch. It ended up around 40″ square. I can see it looking so cute in a baby’s vintage inspired nursery, with white paneled walls… it would definitely be that POP of color!
I used my precious piece of Strawberry fabric from Heather Ross. It feels good to be slowly emptying my shelves, whispering to myself that there will always be more pretty fabric!

Love this! "There will always be more cute fabric" has become my mantra for the last few months. As an incredibly slow hand stitcher, I've fast come to the realisation that my stash has grown at a rate far beyond my sewing abilities. I'm also guilty of hoarding little collections until I'm 'good enough' to use it. In the last month I've decided that I have to find projects for those little collections or donate the fabric to my guild's charity projects. I have a few prints from Briar Rose that I've struggled to know what to do with – not quite enough for a full HR quilt…I think a project like this would be perfect for my fledgling machine piecing skills so I'll go home tonight and put it in a project pile!

This quilt is so cute and happy looking! I have seen strip quilts like this done, but not as a quilt as you go method. It looks fun to make.

I've never tried a QAYG quilt because joining the blocks seems difficult. The front of your quilt looks great at the seams! Great job!

hi. What's your quilt as you go method? I love this quilt and I've done a couple using foundation paper method, it would be so much easier to quilt as you go.
