Well that’s a lot of photos but I’m just excited to have this quilt completed! It started out as a random scrap clean up project, using up 1.5″ strips. Then once the top was put together, I realized that I really like it, and it was worthy of hand quilting.
And the only hand quilting that would do was in the middle of every single strip. So it felt like it took a long time to finish. The back is a cotton voile in a butterfly print. I absolutely love the backing fabric, and then with the dense big stitch quilting in a warm gold? It’s pretty awesome if I do say so.
It’s really not a big quilt, only 51″x64″, so a lap quilt or throw for your sitting room. It has every type and color of fabric thrown in but somehow it really works. It doesn’t look garish, just colorful.
As much as I love it, I think it will go in my shop. I just can’t keep many more quilts or they’ll risk being stuffed away in closets which I don’t want! Also, I’ve been on a real kick hunting around for antique quilts and I need to fund that habit as well!

It is so sweet. You are brave to think of parting with it. I live in a tiny place in Vancouver and have discovered , more quickly than I thought I would, there can be too many quilts 🙂 who knew?
Absolutely exquisite! All those tiny little strips and the delicious handquilting are incredible. I can’t imagine how long the piecing, let alone quilting took. This would have been right at home on your scrap book. I knew saving all my 1.5” scraps was a good idea.
