My completed Cross Roads Quilt! The pattern can be purchased from TreeHouse Textiles. It’s a lovely, easy pattern in which I happily used so many of my favourite fabrics! You could use any color of fabric as the little center squares, but I think the original idea to use red is such a great way of unifying all the many different fabrics you can throw together. I didn’t have any color scheme, but just used all the fabrics that made me happy… and it works! I think largely because of those little center squares that are all the same color.
One thing I tried on this quilt was using no batting, but backing it with a plush throw. (not minky, but an actual plush throw.). I machine quilted in the ditch between blocks and then hand quilted through the middle of the cross pieces. I love the soft squishiness of the finished quilt! I will say though that the hand quilting with Perle cotton had an annoying habit of pulling the plush threads through to the front… oh well, I’m not one to be too concerned about this, but just so you know, this is definitely something that can happen!
It ended up being a nice throw size and it’s gonna stick around here and be thrown around and used and abused!

I love your quilts and the way you use all prints and colors and they work!
I’m still not sold on plush or milky backings… but it looks soft and cozy! Maybe I’ll try it on a baby quilt before I go all in! 😊

Lol… milky? Silly auto-correct! 🤪
