Another version of this quilt, I was intending to use this one as the pattern ‘cover’. After I decided not to make it into a pattern, I sent it off to a new home. Yes, I still have another smaller version of this design that I made to be the crib size.
Oh well, I don’t see it as time wasted, since I got finished quilts out of it, plus it’s been a learning experience for me. Like some patterns are hard to write. Some maybe aren’t meant to be written, or maybe I’m just not the one to do it! I know I need to start with something a bit simpler. I find this really hard to do though, since I have a phobia of writing a pattern that’s too similiar to something already out there.
About this quilt though: I had the inspiration to make a hot pink and white quilt. I wanted it to be a more modern graphic look than what I generally make. Colorwise I find it very hard to stick to just two or three fabrics, and then solids at that! So of course I didn’t quite manage it! I had to sneak in a couple of whimsical VW van triangles. And then I ran out of white solid in the top corner so I added that pink and white elephant print.
I knew all along that I would use black as my backing. The Jay Mccarroll acid green splotch from his Center City collection was perfect for the last bit of rebellious color for the binding!
Thanks so much for all your lovely comments on past posts! Due to being away and sickness etc, I haven’t been getting in to the office, which is where I generally reply. I’ve been getting behind, which I don’t like at all. Every comment that someone leaves just give me such a happy buzz:) So thanks again, and if i don’t reply, please know that it’s due to my spongy brain and less than organized ways, and i definitely read and appreciated it!

Always so hard to limit oneself with fabrics. Or, at least, I also suffer. But… I do love how the fabrics that snuck in gave it a whimsical vibe – especially the print in the upper right corner!

wow – I love everything about it. Your quilts are so amazing.

I like your choice of words – rebellious color. I am slowly getting more comfortable with bold color and I really like this quilt. And I am inspired with how your quilts are 2-sided!

I love, love, love your field of triangles quilts! I super want to make one, so if you ever decide to turn it into a pattern, I'll be first in line to buy it and sew it up!
Also, I think the Center City binding is perfect!

what a beauty, love all the colors, triangles, all those extra prints that made their way in, and the quilting, of course. It's one amazing quilt.

As with all your quilts I love it! I have a lot of triangles left over from this quilt: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46563412@N06/8442793038/in/photostream
so I may try one of my own.
Thanks so much for all your inspiration and hard work.

I really love this! You have such a wonderful style, very similar to Denyse Schmidt! I find these styles of quilts to be hard to write patterns for – but they are so wonderfully created!

I still like the look of this pattern. I have to admit that I like the others more than this one. But it may be because of my taste or that I like the ones with prints in them more. I like that you played with the fabrics and sprinkled some unexpected things here and there.
Get well soon, we're sick here, too.

I made one based on inspiration from your blog:

Thanks for sharing your versions! I might make another, although those triangles are not as fun as one might hope.

Another one of your quilts that makes me think, "why can't I think of this?" Just beautiful. The limited colour makes it even more wonderful. I made one of your triangle quilts and got more comments on that post than I have ever had.
Happy creating today : )

I really like your sense of color. How much fabric do you keep on hand & how much will you buy per piece you don't plan on using for binding/backing (fat quarter, 1/2 yard…)

Another fabulous triangle quilt!! I love these so so much! I've already pulled a bunch of grey and pink fabrics (I totally relate to the inability to limit fabric choices!) to make one for my new niece, due to be born in 5 weeks. Thank you so much for the constant beautiful inspiration. I hope you feel better soon!
