my little pail of selvedges was overflowing so I spent a bit of ‘fun’time sewing them into 6.5″ squares. I cut out foundation pieces from plain white cotton, then sewed these strips on top.
This quilt is one that will stay here, since it’s appeal lies mainly in the fact that it’s a bit of a journal of most of the fabrics I’ve used over the last few years.
I had a blast putting these blocks together, even though I KNEW I should be working on that pile of quilts in the corner instead.
Why does it always have to be so much more fun to start something new and frivolous?!!

I hear ya! I'm the same way. Love the idea of this quilt being a 'journal!'

I just looked at a selvage on a piece of fabric that is doubling as a table cloth. Selvage journals. You are onto something super!

I knew I had been saving my selvages for something. This is fabulous!

I hear ya! Anything that is on my "should" list gets avoided. Funny little game we play isn't it? Nothing I like better than piecing something new and different! Seems to be more the 'creative part'. Love your work by the way.

I used to keep my selvedges and then I didn't, and now this makes me want to again!! These look wonderful!

Ooooh! It's going to be incredible! And how wonderful that you're keeping it for yourself as a way of remembering projects and all of your favorite fabrics. 🙂

Great idea! I sent mine to Cindy at Live a Colorful Life but I do have a new stash of them accumulating…hmmm.

Your blocks look so inspiring. I like a lot of things that challenge the traditional way that things have always been done. And who knows? Maybe someone would like to buy something with selvedges.
It's always more fun to start something new when the 'to do' list is long. I think it's partly because then I feel like I have control not the list!

Those demanding quilt tops. Sheesh, can't they finish themselves?

I hear ya! My attention span is so short these days, all I want to do is start, start, start. Finish? Not so much.

Hey, Poppyprint–we could start a club…or support group!! Jolene, these is so cute. Well, of course I'm in love with it–it's made out of selvages!!

Chara Michele says
Oh how fun! I always toss my selvedges, because I know I will never get around to making a quilt out of them 🙂 This makes me want to keep them though! 🙂

When I saw the title of this post, I immediately thought of "Sheldon Cooper's Fun With Flags" on Big Bang Theory! I think selvedges are more fun!
pandchintz says
That looks so cute!!. Go on, finish it – such fun!
Anna says
Love these. I recently started keeping my selvages and have seen some great ideas lately on how to use them. This seems like a great and relatively simple project. Good luck with those quilt tops.
