No, it’s not a tablecloth. I only had a few minutes so I threw this quilt on the table to show you. Seems like I’m getting a backlog of quilts that I haven’t been able to photograph in their full hanging selves.
Of course it’s always fun to have a few teasers, and see smaller portions of the quilt, but when I see glimpses of something I love on a blog, I’m all about “hurry up and show me the whole thing!”
But this one is an all over pattern, so what you’re seeing here is how the rest looks too. I used this pattern. And I definitely will be making it again. Very simple. A great mindless way to make a random patchwork quilt.
Now, why did I buy this pattern when I rarely end up following a pattern anyway? And I could have figured out something similar and saved $9.00?
Well, sometimes I get to feeling a bit insecure about messing up some great fabric. I had this stack of fabric sitting on my shelf for a long time, and I wanted to make something that I KNEW would turn out well. This is the style of quilt I wanted. Random patchwork, but something I can cut out ahead of time and just sew! Most of the time, I want the adventure of coming up with my (sort of!) own ideas, and winging things and improvising. Other days, I just want to pull out a pattern, grab my fabric, and have confidence that it won’t look wrong.
I know I’ll be using this pattern again!
My only regret is that I added those two dark grays in. I know, it’s not a big deal, but I think they stand out just a wee bit too much. With the pattern was a recommendation to use similar values (light/dark), and so next time I will follow ALL the directions, instead of just most of them. Ok, that may not be possible for me, but I’ll try!

a really fabulous quilt! I like the greys, but then I have been looking at soft yellow and pale grey fabrics for a new project.

I actually like how the dark greys compliment the bike print. The color combos look great! I agree- nice to come up with your own design, but sometimes it is good to let someone else do the thinking for you!

Very cool quilt! The straight line quilting goes perfectly with it. I know what you mean about using a pattern. I haven't yet but have been agonizing over how to complete my latest quilt top. I keep thinking how nice it would be to just have a pre-planned out finish.
