So far I am holding up to my goal to Finish Up! I’ve been busy, and I’ve got this whole stack to show you. (before you get too amazed, these four quilts were all small lap or baby size, and they mostly needed quilting and binding) Right now my laptop is very sluggish so it’s taking a long time to upload and edit photos, so I’ll start with the top quilt.
About a year ago, I made a set of nine patch blocks just for the fun of it. I used some pretty random fabrics! I loved these little blocks, and always planned to sash them and make a little quilt, but I could never decide what fabric to use as sashing.
I kinda figured I’d go with a solid cream. Very safe, and it would have looked nice. I know I would have liked it. Then for some reason I spied this grey posies print (from Flea Market Fancy by Denyse Schmidt) It was sitting modestly on the shelf so I pulled it out as an option. Hmmm…. I really liked it but worried that it would be too busy.
So I let these blocks sit for a few more months, and then one day I just decided to go for it! I think I like it! I probably wouldn’t do this every day, but it works here.
And then I used this chevron fabric by Moda. I’m so sad this one is no longer available! I know that Riley Blake has a similiar fabric, but I don’t like it quite as well. The only reason for this is that I love the deeper golden shade of this one, compared to the lighter yellow of the Riley Blake fabric.
Quilt Dimensions:36″wide by 45″? long.

Wow that quilt looks great. It's a simple design but it looks stunning. Great fabric choices.

This is beautiful! I love the sashing! 🙂 (FYI – Moda released the Half Moon Modern Zig Zags so they're still out there!)

Super fun! Way to be bold with the sashing.

This is so pretty and sweet!! I loved the Moda Half Moon Modern Yellow Chevron, too, but I only ever had a fq of it. RBD just released some chevron flannels that I hope to get my hands on! 🙂

That's unusual to be sure, but I like it too! Do you have any tips for lining up sashing? I'm getting ready to do it for the first time.

Looks fantastic! And good news, they just reprinted the half moon modern chevrons! They already have it available at pink chalk fabrics 🙂

It's really neat how the greys balance the yellows. It was a choice that worked so well. I'm eager to see more of your FOs. I am two for two in my goal of making a baby quilt a week as a stash busting experiment. 🙂 I'm feeding off of your progress.

That did work so well. And, how do you have cute little blocks just sitting around? Apparently, I need to sew more, think less.

Sometimes simple is best. This is darling as usual. The second one in the stack has my interest ; )

I really love the backing you chose. It makes the entire quilt pop and brings it all together. Well done!

I love the grey! Bizarrely it seems to make the quilt look even more snuggly and useable. Also I'm totally with you on the warmer yellow. I call it egg yolk yellow and it's my very favorite colour ( the last year or so anyway!). Yum all round 🙂
