This quilt was made in response to my overflowing pink/red scraps. Although honestly it didn’t make a very large dent! These blocks are just quarter log cabins, set on point. Setting blocks on point always tends to make a quilt look just a bit more special.
My one regret on this quilt is the setting triangles (the ones along the edges). I KNEW I should do them in whites/lights, but I wanted so badly to use up more of my dark pink scraps, so I went ahead. I still like it, but the look I was originally going for was to have those on point squares floating on a light background.
Oh well, it’s just a different look, but a good lesson to follow my gut. Maybe I’ll make another one with this idea, just in slightly different colors.
I used a black and white fabric on the back, because I thought it was heavy enough on the pink already!
In case you’re curious about block sizes on this one, the log cabin blocks were around 9″, and then the setting triangles are easy to figure out by googling ‘quilt block setting sizes on point’ or something similar 🙂 Make sure to follow instructions for cutting the side and corner blocks, as these are always cut in triangles from a larger square to make sure you don’t have bias edges around the outside!

This quilt is gorgeous and even better knowing you used scraps! You must be so proud!

I respectfully disagree with your wish that you had faded to white. I absolutely LOVE this quilt just the way it is!!!

I agree! The dark pink edges really propel the central design forward to meet the eye. I think it looks so nice this way, as opposed to a lighter color choice.

I agree! Although, I can also see the appeal of the lighter setting blocks. Very nice!

Gorgeous! I love the boldness of the darker setting triangles. And totally agree about the special look of on point blocks.

I think it looks beautiful just the way it is. The pink setting triangles frame the inside design and sets it off nicely. Otherwise it may have appeared kind of washed out.

I love seeing other people using the same fabrics I have. It makes me feel like we have a connection even when we don't actually know eachother! Beautifully done!
