While making an English Cottage quilt block for my new book ‘Scrap Quilt Dairy’, I found two cutting mistakes. I’ll share a photo below with the mistakes and the right measurements so if you purchased the book on Dec 9, 2024 or sooner, please pencil in these corrections in your book!
Of course I’m so sorry and very upset by this! I just hope that anyone who wants to make this quilt block sees this correction or you’ll have some frustration… I guess I have to see it as part of my learning experience with self publishing… I’m so thankful to every one of you for your support and enthusiasm on this journey.
This morning I thought to myself, “why did I ever try making books to begin with? if I hadn’t, then I could have been happily working on something else, rather than trying to fix my mistake!”
But actually that thought didn’t last very long because I know that it IS all part of the process, and I’ve never been one to wait around for perfection. I learn by process, as I’m sure a lot of you do, and so I have to dive in and try things and learn as I go!
The original has been changed on Amazon, so any books purchased after Dec 9, 2024 will have the corrections already made.

I know the feeling! Publishing a pattern and then realizing there’s a mistake is such a let-down. Ugh. At least you caught it this quickly! Off to get it fixed in my book because I definitely want to be making some of these houses! ❤️

thanks for the heads-up on the measurements. I am going to make this block/quilt for my sister, who loves it! Like a lot of folk I read the instructions fully before I embark on a new project and was a little confused as later on the assembly of the main body of the house uses the correctly measured pieces. Now it all makes sense. I don’t have a huge stash of fabrics/scraps and have to be careful what I buy, but I have already started on 2 quilts shown in the book. It’s the inspiration rather than the patterns – so I thank you for that. x
I got my book on 2nd December, and it’s already been read from cover to cover. I really like a soft back book, It’s not so cumbersome. I could not justify buying the Year of Quilts before, but now it might just be my Christmas present to me.
