I’ve made this sailboat design a few times in the past. This one is a classic look for a little boy. I think my favorite part is the binding fabric paired with the backing. The back is a Shot Cotton in Aqua. This fabric is just extra soft and makes the whole quilt have a wonderful drape.
Even though I did dense straight line quilting, it is not stiff at all. All I can figure out is that using a slightly softer fabric on the back, like a shot cotton or voile, gives the whole quilt a softer feel.
This quilt finished around 40″ square.
I love the calm, serene quality of this quilt! It looks super soft and very cuddly. Very special.:)
grrr you're not helping with my baby fever!!! So sweet!
So cute!
what a perfect baby boy quilt. It's gorgeous.
Sweet! Love the straight line quilting – I'm set to try that on a baby quilt of my own tomorrow!
It's gorgeous! What is the solid you used on the front?
It looks delightful. Interesting tip about the choice of backings. Where did you order your labels?
Just found your post about the labels you have tried – thanks.
Simply beautiful. Love the simplicity of this, but the taller sails adds so much interest. Lucky little boy
Very nice quilt! Lovely design, lovely fabrics… just great result 🙂
Have a nice time!

Oh, my little nephew would love this 🙂
adorable! I love all your quilts 🙂 I'm a quilter of 15 years myself. Looking to make some more modern cute baby quilts like yours. xo

Adorable!
Gorgeous 🙂 Love the blues you chose.
This is beautiful. I love the binding with the back and the front – lucky boy.
Lovely as always! Such a stylish baby quilt. I've made all of seven quilts so far and four have been backed in an aqua shot cotton like this, and those that haven't, I wished I had! My only complaint is the fraying but it won't stop me using shot cotton again because it's so soft and the colour is much more subtle than a comparable solid.
That is such a wonderful quilt for a baby boy. It's not babyish but it's definitely suitable for a baby.
I love this! What a sweet, simple quilt! I may need to try this one sometime. Lovely work, as always!
super cute tag!
So simple and cute. The colour combination is very in at the moment, but I also think it is classic and will last forever. I love your tag too!
