Look close, a two color quilt, and all in solids, is a rare occurrence for me! Not because I don’t like them, I do very much indeed! I’d like to own them. I’d like to say I made them. I just find them a bit boring to make. After all, the whole fun for me is in the fabric choosing…
This was a haphazard beginning of a quilt, made with random scraps and a bit of an idea. I liked the idea of a couple rows of Star Hollow blocks on point, with a chain of nine patches between. As you’ll probably notice, I kept running out of background fabrics and adding slightly different shades of off white and cream. There are also two shades of the dark brownish green color.
Let me say I don’t see this as a problem. It’s all part of my philosophy of quilt making which is that there are no mistakes, only added interest and character.
This quilt ended up 60″x80″ and it will be available in my shop. I also listed some of the quilts from my book!

I think the slight variations add interest and character, too. Lovely quilt, but I know what you mean about the making being boring. I need the play of color and fabrics to keep me excited while sewing. But you can’t argue with results here!

Love this quilt. It looks like deep tan and cream on my iPad but you mentioned green Either way it looks brilliant as always.

I love it. I love how the design is on only part of quilt. The two tone background sets it off. Like Diana it looks brown on my iPad…..would love to see the green.

I have your pattern, and am working on a print version, but I love this version as well. I’m warming up to using more brown…it makes for a humble, cozy, and warm quilt. When I first looked at the close up and noticed the background variation, I thought great idea…keep that in mind. I have quite a variety of off white scraps to use up…and some brown calico from the 80’s…hmmm…wouldn’t that be sweet.
Thanks for the great pattern and inspiration.

Oh, I just realized that you said it was dark green, not brown…love it either way.

I love how the quilt crinkles. What is the cream fabric? Mine never look so crinkled. Any help is appreciated.

Love the simple beauty. 🤎
Could I ask where you had the label made?

I understand you completely! I feel the same about these pure quilts, and about straight line quilting, actually. It looks so nice, but seems so boring to do! This is a beautiful quilt, though! I actually have a quilt with four big tree of life blocks in white and beige. I made it with old sheets. I find it a bit boring… maybe I should go with that theme and quilt it with only straight lines 🙂
