This quilt was pieced back when I cleaned out all my blue and green scraps. My favorite part is the hand quilting. I had never quilted this traditional pattern before, but really enjoyed it, and love the way it looks. I will definitely be doing it again.
The quilting pattern is called Baptist Fans, and I found a neat tutorial for a neat way of marking them when you don’t have a stencil. Here it is. If I was going to do it often, I’d maybe get the stencil, but this worked quite well I thought.
I think this quilt is a good example of how I like to mix the modern and vintage vibes together to keep the quilt from fitting into one specific category. It’s scrappy, so that gives it a vintage feel. The color coded stripes give it a more modern graphic edge. Then the traditional hand quilting gives it a vintage feel again. Do I explain myself? I’m just realizing that this is an aspect I really like to put in my quilts, but hadn’t verbalized it before.

Beautiful! Love how you chose not to always alternate light & dark rows – another vintage-made-modern touch.

so happy to see a post from you pop up in my feed 🙂 Beautiful quilt, as always. I imagine it was quite dreamy to quilt, what with that scrumptious double gauze backing. (My quilting doesn't fit into a category, either)

I love baptist fans as a quilting pattern and yours looks fabulous!! I like the same style as you, kind of a modern twist (fabrics and graphic placement) mixed with traditional elements. I'm very impressed with your hand quilting!!

So pretty! I've been wanting to quilt the baptist fan on something, except mine would be by machine! Lovely hand quilting!

Love everything about this quilt, your use of color and valuevis just divine. Reading and viewing your posts is such a pleasure, you have a way of photographing your quilts that make them look softer and puffier and all around more scrumptious than imaginable.

Love this one – I appreciate how you mix the modern and the vintage. And your color choices are fun … scrappy can actually be tough if things don't vibrate well together.
