I always love Thimbleblossoms patterns. I don’t use a lot of patterns, but if I had to use just one brand of patterns for the rest of my life, I could happily choose Thimbleblossoms. I always know I’ll be satisfied with her method of making the blocks, and her designs are classic but fun. I’ve been eyeing these seasonal medallion quilts, (yes, she has a Springville, Autumnville, and Winterville, and I plant to make them all!) and suddenly it was time to make one! I had a stack of fabric just sitting there waiting for something. I thought it looked like a summer stack, so I went with it.
I was worried for awhile that it was too busy. There were quite a few busy prints and generally I like to have a few more solid ish fabrics. I do think it’s still quite bright and busy, but it’s a summer quilt, that’s for sure! I really enjoyed making this pattern. It came together so quickly!
You may notice that I didn’t do the final border. I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted it on there, so I’m contemplating if I’ll add just a plain off white border, or do some more nine patches or something like that. Right now it’s about 60″ square, so I don’t want it to get too huge since I’m imagining it as a throw quilt. But I do feel like it needs something more around the edge yet.
And then I want to make the Autumn one next!
What a sweet, homey quilt!
Marvellous! I think a solid border would frame it perfectly.
That is a lovely pattern, and I would just face the quilt and be done, it looks great all on its own! You just can’t beat those nine patches on point, can you? So charming.
I love your very happy version of Summerville. Maybe a piano key border in all neutrals?
It’s a lovely quilt. It looks like the happy days of summer. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Love your pink plaid house! 🩷
It’s perfect!
I love this one.
Charming!
I just love the way you combine fabrics. So beautiful!
I bought this pattern a few years ago and I still haven’t made it. I really love yours so much I think I’ve got to get going on mine soon.
