The little sewing elf bug bit me again this Christmas season and I decided to have a table at my community fair. I quick sewed up some items that I thought might possibly sell… like these 5 plush quilts above. I had the tops of two of them hanging in the closet waiting for quilting anyway. And I’ve found that everyone’s favorite quilts at my house are the ones with the plush throws on the back, with some yarn ties to hold them together. Somehow the quilted top together with the plush throw makes the very best weight. Like even better than just a plush throw by itself (and yes my family agree with this weird phenomenon). Anyways, I can finish up these quilts fairly quickly because I’m only tying instead of quilting and so together with the fact that they don’t have batting, I can sell them more economically.

I also had found a lumpy and somewhat worn Sun Bonnet Sue quilt which seemed best used at being cut up into something. So I used pre purchased totes and added pockets on in these adorable antique blocks. I also sewed up some totes from scratch with mix and match fabrics.

A family member asked for a Kindle case for Christmas, so I thought I’d make a few of those…

Made a couple iPad cases as well with scraps from the throw quilts.

And then a whole bunch of potholders. I feel fairly confident about my potholders. I’ve made probably hundreds of them over the years and I think I have them about perfected. The size and the thickness, just right for not being too stiff but still not letting your hands get burned.

Oh yes, and a couple hoodies with patchwork embellishment as well.

This is one of the throws that sold, and I’d like to do a whole post on just this one because I loved it so much. Luckily I have more left of all the fabrics so I might make another one sometime. All and I mean all of the fabrics in this one were thrifted by me. There’s the feature of a Holly Hobbie block, and then tablecloths, and tapestry curtains and vintage sheets.

This one block of embroidered linen is just perfect!

This is another favorite, and can you see the soft pink plush back? So very soft and squishy!

So of course I didn’t sell everything! I uploaded it all to my Etsy shop so go have a look if you’re interested! I’ve put a sale on in my shop that if you buy three or more items you’ll receive an automatic 20%off discount! This includes my pdf pattern. Link to Etsy shop.

Just wow. I can see why you loved that quilt. How are the quilts to bind? I imagine a walking foot helps? What are you using to tie them. Wool? Or an acrylic blend ? They are gorgeous ❤️
Hi- would you consider sharing your method for making potholders? My potholders are from my grama’s kitchen and are at least 30 years old. I keep recovering them as they wear but I think I need to make some new ones as they definitely have some hot spots!!
I love the log cabin quilt with the plushy back- definitely my favorite.
