Apparently I was in the mood to finish up some quilt tops. It is actually motivated by the fact that I need to find a place to put away my winter coats etc. The only available spot seems to be my sewing room closet. But the sewing room closet is quite full. Therefore I felt very motivated to finish up some tops. This one was pieced together with random leftover fabrics. I was originally inspired by QuiltyFolk, as I love her style of quilting with a mix of piecing and free hand applique.
I feel like free hand appliqué is one of those things that you can’t overthink, but also probably gets better with practice. The shapes of my flowers are a little too primitive for my own taste even! But on the other hand I do like this quilt a lot. It feels like it has a nice personality, it’s definitely not a boring quilt.
It’s for sale in my Etsy shop!

These next three quilts are all made with plush throw backs, no batting and are tied instead of quilted. If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know that I have been making a lot of these in the last couple years. They seem to be irresistible in real life because of their squishy softness. They are also pretty quick to finish up, so they are a good option if I have some simple tops that I want to finish up quickly and I’m also able to sell them abit cheaper than a traditionally quilted quilt. This makes for a win win situation, so I’m using up bits and bobs from my scrap drawer and also using up the plush throws that I’ve accumulated for backs. Because like I said I’m trying to make room in my closet!

All these quilts are listed in my shop, and there will be more next week as well!

Ohhhhhh these are glorious. The log cabin is the perfect primitive look 🥰
I love the tied quilts! The Trip Around the World quilt is gorgeous. I need to use up scraps and stash and get to it!!
