Sometimes quilts take a long time to get going. They have to marinate. There are frustrating starts and stops and other projects come in between. And then there are quilts that you start on a whim and they just work so well, you get in the flow immediately and before you know it, the quilt is done!
That was this one. I didn’t plan the color scheme when I started. I just bought and printed off this pattern and started making a trial block out of scraps that were already out on my cutting table. And I liked it so much I just kept going in that direction. It was a lot of little pieces, so I decided to stick with 9 blocks and add some borders.
I haven’t measured it exactly yet but I think it ended up around 60 x 70 inches. I used a cream colored flannel on the back which is a favorite of mine. So cozy and goes with everything. Keep your eye out for flannel flat sheets in pretty colors because they work so well for quilt backs.

Beautiful pattern – love your fabrics! Is this a foundation paper pieced pattern?
This will be such a wonderful heirloom! Beautiful!
Great Quilt! I love it! Nice work on your part!
I think what you did with the borders is great! It sets off the lovely wheels so well. Congratulations on another beautiful finish.
I eagerly await each of your blog posts as you have so many great ideas – your quilts turn out beautifully. I’ve used flat sheets for years for backings, but never thought to look for flannel flat sheets. Thanks for that tip. The colors you chose are what makes this quilt really zing…
That quilt is so beautiful and cozy.
This one is absolutely charming! 💗
